Eerie how apropos this is
Today's horoscope...
With all the recent thinking about your goals and what you need to do in order to have the life of your dreams, you're just plain old tired of living in the future. Unfortunately, nostalgia isn't healthy now either. Instead of worrying about yesterday or tomorrow, methodically keep bringing your thoughts back to today. When you can keep your mind focused on the here and now, you'll also be closer to being happy.
Well, I don't know if that's necessarily the case, however.
See, my friend and I talk about a friend of his that we've aptly named "Bad Movie Guy". He likes bad movies, hence the moniker.
Here's an example:
While visiting Bad Movie Guy at home one time my friend remarked that he had a VHS copy of Goodfellas (this was several years ago, mind you) to which Bad Movie Guy replied, "It was...until I taped over that piece of garbage".
I'm not certain, but I think it was a Steven Seagal movie he replaced it with...get the drift now?
Anyway, Bad Movie Guy doesn't really want much out of life. He's fine with his moderately paying job, watches bad movies and pretty much stays put. He has few aspirations and just doesn't care, really.
My friend and I can't help but discuss how blissfully happy he seems.
That happiness escapes us...perhaps it's because we want more out of life?
So when I read that horoscope, I tend to think that it's telling me to go the route of Bad Movie Guy and try to be content with my situation.
Which I can't, of course, so that creates quite the conundrum.
Or does that passage mean that I shouldn't worry about the future because it will come eventually and not to focus on it right now?
Does the fact that I tend to over analyze a stupid, meaningless horoscope make me the perfect poster boy for a Virgo?
I think I need to just go and watch Mad Men.
Maybe that's the "here and now" that will make me happy...
...if only for a fleeting moment.
Which these days, I'll take. ;)

I just like that you work apropos into a sentence ... you're cool like that ;-)
And when you do find the map to happiness, fling it my way would ya?
my here and now comes every night at 7:00. i can stop thinking and just be.
maybe planning for the future and wishing for your past only come around to make you appreciate when they go away.
Kristen,
Lol...I try to be cool!
I will gladly share that map with you. Doesn't look like I'll ever find it though.:(
Lana,
I need that "me" time. Unfortunately, it's hard to come by these days.
