Guilty Pleasures?

I often wonder why offbeat pleasures are referred to as "guilty". Must there be shame in everything? If it's not accepted by the "norms" of society, then it's looked down upon.

I only ask because as I was listening to the Grease 2 soundtrack at work today, I saw people shake their heads and snicker. Not so much at me, but my choice of music.

(Ok, maybe it is a bit odd to see a guy belt out "Girl For All Seasons" when he's straight...lol)

But hey, I'll be the first to admit that the movie's a train wreck but it's so damned kitschy that you can't help but watch. I know I do anytime it's on.

And it reminds me of the days when movies were just allowed to be fun and not big overblown piles of crap and get so hyped that people end up believing that it's good when it sucks. (Case in point, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls).

Maybe I've just gotten to the point where I don't care what people think...just have fun and go with it...enjoy whatever pleasures you can find throughout your day...god knows there are so few anymore!

On a sidenote, I can't help but wonder how many of the Rydell kids actually would make it through life. None of them seemed particularly bright to go on to any form of higher education. At least the kids from the first film showed some glimmer of hope. I would be frightened to imagine where the ones from the 2nd film ended up. Probably went into politics I would assume...
