What wasn't good for you then...

I got to thinking tonight as I was watching the Carlin specials air on HBO...

Why have we regressed as a society...ok...at least in America?

When I was but a young lad, I was allowed to watch risque shows like Soap, All in the Family, Benny Hill, Dave Allen (kudos if you remember him), Carlin specials (which oddly enough I could recite Carlin at Carnegie from memory even though I haven't seen it in years) and the Bugs Bunny cartoons with the violence unedited.

I don't recall once having thoughts of mutilating squirrels or using an automatic weapon on a busload of tourists or anything of that ilk...

Then again, my family taught me the difference between right and wrong and fantasy and reality...

So I suppose that begs the questions...

When did morons from that era grow up and restore Puritanism to this country?

Is it when they started making money and were somehow ushered into a secret society where fear must now rule so the fun must be sucked out of everything?

Or did they not grow up and, as a result, their kids are now a mess so they have to have someone else to blame things on?

Somehow I think it's a combination of the latter two...people never really "grew up" and since they are shitty parents who could never take care of themselves much less their offspring, they have to point a finger somewhere...well, I have a finger I can point at you!

Be there for your kids or enroll them in better schools so future generations don't have to put up with idiots!

Ok...done with the squirrels...hey...is that a bus?
