Sometimes a little is enough...

"If you start out depressed, everything's kind of a pleasant surprise."
--Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack), Say Anything

"A crappy day. That would be easy. No trouble at all. No planning involved to have a crappy day. Just get up!"
--George Carlin

That was pretty much my Wednesday.

Got up in the morning and somehow pulled a muscle in my shoulder blade that plagued me all day long.

Hey...no big deal...what else ya got for me?

Then someone opened a carbonated water and it sprayed all over me, completely missing a co-worker sitting to my left.

Didn't stain at least and I had a nice cherry smell for the remainder of the day! What else ya got for me?

Oh...right...see...never ask that because the day will have something else for you.

It almost reminded me of that scene in Fight Club where Brad Pitt is getting the shit kicked out of him by Lou's goon and he keeps asking for more and keeps getting it. Or when Miss Piggy's taking those punches from FBI agent Josh Charles in Muppets From Space ("Is that all ya got?"...see, I watch the classics too ;) )

But at least they won at the end of those encounters.

Ok...so I didn't totally lose...just that something major I was looking forward to has been put on hold indefinitely and it really took the wind out of my sails. Hence the quotes at the beginning.

That's why I kind of take my enjoyment in the little things in life, because, really, isn't that all there is?

When you think about it, it's usually something small that makes you happy...often times unplanned or that comes out of the blue...anything you least expect.

Like that little bookcase on my blog...I just think it's cool and I wish they had something like that for movies...

Wanting to see the midnight showing of Dark Knight tonight if only work wouldn't get in the way...

Wanting...a lot of things...

Oh well...I can dream can't I?

Which reminds me of a song running through my head (coincidentally from a movie, Streets of Fire):

" I can dream about you I'm gonna press my lips against you and hold you to me I can dream about you You know you got me spellbound what else can it be"
--Dan Hartman, Streets of Fire Soundtrack

We can all dream, sometimes it's all that gets us through.
