'Shrooms tonight?

I might as well have been doing them because the 70s came flashing back in the biggest way tonight!

After hanging out with an old friend watching college football, I decided to meet some other friends at another casino...

I arrived early so decided to play some slots when I hear a band playing...

"We had it all
Just like Bogie and Bacall

Starring in our own

Late, late show
Sailing away to key largo"

After losing money, I of course had to ask the bartender what band on earth would play that...and just as I was asking, I looked at the stage and the lead singer seemed familiar...

"I think it's the guy who wrote it", the bartender said...

Are you fucking kidding me?

"THAT'S Bertie Higgins?", I inquired.

"Yeah, that's his name."

Fucking A...ok...so I had to meet him.

"I grew up with that song", I said enthusiastically!

"So did I", Higgins replied, less than enthused.

So I got an autograph and his greatest hit(s)...all for $20!

Then I texted people I knew because that's how excited I was! Most people who know me know that I LOVE 70s music...hell, I have "Key Largo" on my iTouch and I can sing it from memory! If you would have told me Pure Prairie League and Firefall were on next I would have been ecstatic!!!

My friends seemed nonplussed.

As did Bertie.

Oh well...

Then a local band came on and when they did a cover of Cheap Trick's "Dream Police", the accompanying video had clips from...

LIDSVILLE

WTF?!?

I know that I'm the only one who remembers that show! It's an old Sid & Marty Krofft extravaganza that wasn't played much...except in my house... ;)

It starred Charles Nelson Reilly! Outside of the Match Game and The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, who the hell remembers him from that era (save for his appearances as Jose Chung on the X-Files and Millennium)?

It was about a kid who fell into a magician's hat and was transported to a land where all the inhabitants were hats!

Lol...

On second thought, maybe I do need those 'shrooms to get over my time traveling escapade!

Because I was the only one who was thrilled to have that hearkening back to the days of yesteryear...

*Sigh*

I imagine doing 'shrooms while watching Lidsville can't be a good choice, honestly, although I would give three teeth to see Electra Woman and Dyna Girl again...

Lol...Roxy, I'll make sure you get at least a glimpse of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl again!

Funny...Dyna Girl was my first major crush when I was just but a wee lad many moons ago...

:D

Roxy,

Well Deidre Hall was no slouch...but I grew too used to her being Dr. Marlena Evens Brady Black, yada yada yada that Judy Strangis was a welcome change!

Didn't hurt that an older girl in my neighborhood looked like her! :D
