From Heroes to (near) Zeros...

I remember when the first season of Heroes aired.

I was riveted and couldn't wait until the following week to see the action unfold. It was a relatively slow buildup but the characters made the show worth watching. There was a real villain and a real threat (the end of the world).

Ok, yes the "end of the world" thing has been done to death in just about every show out there. But they made it work because it seemed like a plausible result if the Heroes didn't band together to stop an all powerful villain.

Again, it all had to do with the writing and the characters driving the plot and not vice versa.

Then season 2 came along...thankfully cut short by the writers strike...though I watched the alternate ending which detailed where they were supposed to go with the storyline...and I kind of wanted to see more...it looked like it was headed in the right direction...

So the second season ended prematurely...and they had months to come up with a dazzling third season...

So far, it's been severely disappointing...see...when you create a universe (whether it is in movies, TV, comics, novels, etc.) you have to follow the rules you've set up in your world and adhere to them...you may bend them at times but not break them as they serve the backbone of your story...and the "end of the world" has worn out its welcome!

It seems that in the Heroes writing room, they just do whatever the hell they want now, assuming that people are dumb (which they are for the most part) and won't notice...

Too late...

Why does this happen to some shows? Other shows can go on for years and sometimes actually get better (Lost, Dexter) and some maintain their quality even though they might dip a little at times (Mad Men)...

I'll give the show until the end of the first story arc and then may just watch it whenever instead of weekly...

It's certainly not the show I once waited on pins and needles for a whole week to see...now it's kind of like that same sensation but a little different...like the kind you get when your foot's asleep...

It's waking up...and so am I...

As for the 31 days...it took a bit of a detour this weekend in lieu of the major sporting events all over the TV...but I'm still foraging ahead with the book so that counts!

Geez, Sean, you're a tough critic. I for one am still enjoying Heroes. Granted it's not as good as last season, but c'mon...

Take last night's episode...a future where everyone is the opposite of how they are now? I say it's still a good deal better than a lot of the crap out there.

So have you checked out Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles yet?

Nope...I won't relent...like I said, I'll give it a chance but it's been unraveling rather quickly!

I'm SO tired of them always having to rely on changing the future...there are other storylines out there! lol

No...probably won't catch the Terminator show until after it's canceled...;)

STUBBORN BASTARD! You really didn't think it really cool how in the future everyone is the complete opposite of how they behave in the present?

I admit i'm getting a bit fed up with Hiro and his sidekick and the comic relief they apparently represent but the rest is all good.

Kinda makes me feel pressure to keep you amused lest you stop reading me....

Lol...no, I didn't think it was cool...and you know why? Because they did it in season one too!

Everyone's DIFFERENT?

AGAIN?

Holy Schamolie...what an original idea!!!
