Shriek Week #4

"Oh it's night again
And the dark just killed the sun
if the light must end

Then you've got time to run away"

--The Shadow of the Wind, Black Sabbath

In the shadows...

Sometimes what's not there or what lurks in the dark is far more terrifying than what you actually see...which is why I love these two very different films!

Cat People (1942)

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

What really struck me about your first choice is how yesterday's terrifying movie becomes tomorrow's cheese. I'll bet that people were genuinely scared by Cat People back in the 40s...all it did was make me giggle. Then again maybe it's just me, it's the rare movie that scares me these days.

As for Blair Witch, well all it did was make me vaguely nauseous from all the shaking from the hand-held camera. A great idea but not a scary movie...in my opinion of course.
