Sunday I drove to my cousin's house in Mesa. Although he shares my general disdain for the Southwest we did have a great time. One of his neighbors came over and we ended up just talking for most of the night. Jack was constantly followed around (and freaked out) by my cousin's large Lab. Therefore, he spent most of the visit in my lap or close to me...lol.
Today I headed out around 7:30. It was a nice drive...for a little while.
Heading north through Arizona to Interstate 40, I couldn't help but wonder what it was like in the old days on Route 66...that probably would have been much more fun.
As I pondered this, I noticed a light rainfall...
...then a growing fog that led to...
...a SNOWSTORM!!!
Yeah...can't even escape the stuff out here...needless to say, that increased my travel time as I slowed to a crawl.
And can anyone tell me when it doesn't rain in New Mexico? I recall a torrential downpour when driving out here years ago. Today I was faced with constant rain as well as frigid weather thanks to the high winds.
Ahhh, the sunny demeanor of the Southwest!
Tonight I write this from Amarillo...where the front desk cut me off in the middle of asking an additional question and requesting a wake up call. Then, when I called back, they acted as if I was bothering them. Perhaps if they wouldn't have hung up on me in the first place, I wouldn't have bothered them again.
*Sigh*
Welcome to America the beautiful!
More later!

Ha PAYBAAAAAACK!!!! This is for the times you teased me about our snowfall,Sean! Some people are followed by a raincloud, you apparently are followed by a snowcloud. *snickers*
Poor Jack, I'll bet he hasn't been around dogs before.
Yep, service with a....snarl? Obviously you interuppted their very precious time, Sean, shame on you for wanting service in the first place! Some people shouldn't be in the service industry they really shouldn't. Did you get your wakeup call?
Lol...I was just thinking that there's something following me...not sure what it is but it isn't good!
Yes, I got the mechanized wake up call...no one calls personally anymore.
Ummmmm no.....that's me. Sorry dude I wanted a vacation and I thought you'd like the company. *waves to Jack*
Geez they really ARE antisocial aren't they? Not even a real voice. Doesn't your room have a clock radio anyway?
sponsored by the word: Pariba, a lovely island in the South Pacific
Actually, I've been using my old cell as an alarm clock ever since. The thing is that I have to get up and move across the room to get the phone.
Otherwise, I hit snooze! ;)
Ah yes the dreaded snooze button. they really shouldn't have invented that button, thousands of people have been late for work because of it.
