America's Team

"America's Team" is often synonymous with the Dallas Cowboys...

The same Dallas Cowboys who employ a whiny wide receiver (now with his own reality show), a QB who makes headlines dating semi retarded starlets off the field and an ex defensive player who "made it rain" in a Vegas strip club and, in the end, caused someone to be a paraplegic.

So that's "America's Team"?

Well...hopefully we can change our viewpoint of how we view America by looking at a team that is just that...a TEAM!

How often do you hear crybabies, whiners, and egotistical nobodies vying for attention from the media from the Steelers?

Close to never I would imagine!

So why can't we live up to this ideal for a team that resembles America?

Maybe Big Ben needs to beat up a stripper or Troy Polamalu has to kick an orphan in the face to get noticed...

Though I hope tonight's performance would suffice...

Maybe it's just me...but I have a soft spot for strippers and orphans! ;)

Late night wanderings

I had planned on heading to bed hours ago.

However, I found some reading materials that I had neglected (ok, forgot about to be honest with you) and since it's all quiet on the southwestern front, I figured I'd read until words started to blur together.

As always, I did one final scan of some websites before turning in, going to a few that, honestly, had completely slipped my mind!

(These things happen when you're nudged towards 40, you know!)

Anyway, I happened to visit a site that I used to love and that, for some unknown reason, just fell by the wayside.

If you've never read Mr. Cranky, let me explain...it's a movie review website that can be brutally honest and skewers films no matter how good or bad they are.

My personal favorite line was from the site's review of the 1999 Cher vehicle, Tea With Mussolini, where he offers the standard spoiler on the WWII drama, "The Allies win the war (*spoiler alert*)", but there are many other gems as well.

That includes this blog regarding the site founder's take on the state of the nation:

Everything That's Wrong With America I Learned At Starbucks

Enjoy!
