"You listen to me. I will never again eat another sandwich I did not order. Bad jobs, neurotic girlfriends...NO longer for this man. Do you understand me?!?"
--Chuck Lumley (Henry Winkler), Night Shift
I always laugh when I think of this quote from that classic and highly underrated comedy. It's at a point near the end of the film when Henry Winkler's beleaguered character has had enough and just snaps.
Think of me as that guy...lol.
In a year just replete with less than stellar events and unfulfilled promises, it's time for things to change. I'm not going to be that guy who sits there and takes s#!t from the world and its' inhabitants any longer. And, as a battle cry, I take up that 1983 anthem by Haysi Fantayzee,
See ya 2008. Wish I could say it was fun but you blew. Those bad times are now behind me.
Time to look toward the future. And, like David Naughton's one hit wonder, it's time to focus on Makin' It with no distractions or people, places and things to impede me.
"Success is mine and I've got the key" indeed, Mr. Naughton.
(Odd that the theme from the TV show lasted longer than the actual show itself. If nothing else, he could always go back to being a Pepper...)
Hey, if nothing else in the coming year, I can provide you with some great cheesy music to listen to as well as useless knowledge with which to befuddle your friends!
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

Sure...be a Pepper! You're in America now where you can be anything you want!
Then you wake up and discover that it was all a dream! ;)
